Why a Pool Opening Is More Than “Just Taking Off the Cover”

Why a Pool Opening Is More Than “Just Taking Off the Cover”

When warmer weather arrives, it might seem like all that stands between you and your first swim is removing the pool cover—but a proper pool opening is far more involved. At Dingman Pools, we treat every pool opening as a detailed process designed to protect your investment and ensure a clean, safe, and fully operational swimming experience from day one.

Our professional pool opening service includes much more than cover removal.

        • First, we carefully remove and fanfold your pool cover, storing it neatly in your shed or garage.
        • We then remove all winterizing plugs and skimmer gizmos, replacing them with directional eyeballs to restore proper water flow.
        • All pool equipment is reassembled, including pumps, filters, and heaters, and we thoroughly lubricate every O-ring and gasket to ensure a watertight seal and prevent future wear.
        • To jumpstart your water chemistry, we add 2–3 gallons of liquid shock or 5 pounds of granular shock. If your pool has a DE (diatomaceous earth) filter, we’ll add fresh DE powder to keep filtration at peak performance.
        • Finally, we reinstall handrails, diving boards, and ladders to complete the setup.

Opening your pool the right way sets the tone for a successful swim season. Let our experienced team handle the hard work so you can dive into a clean, healthy, and fully prepared pool.
